Final music

Final music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19uXdV1c_Ds
This video is the song that we are going to use, but we are only using the first few seconds where there is no singing. We are using this track as it is slow and also child like which fits the theme of our thriller opening. We are going to put the track onto garage band on the apple mac's and edit out the first few seconds and put it on repeat so it fits the whole of our video.

Poetry to put on the film

Poetry

We decided to put part of a poem onto our thriller opening at the end. This is the poem below:

Lily stares, searching for an answer
Through the glassy image in the mirror.
A crystal tear falls,
So small, yet holding so much.
She's silent but screaming,
Nobody hears.

In the end we decided not to use this poem.

So far we have been doing editing, some of the shots of the car didn't fit so Laura suggested we flip some of them so the car is going the same way on every single one, so that we don't break the rule of 180 degree rule and so that we have a mix of different shots that fit together. Next we need to decide on music and re-record Laura singing for the flashbacks and the ending of the film.

Filming day two (6/12/12)

Filming day two

The ladder which i have to climb. The ladder is so we are high enough to do a very high shot for our title sequence.

Me having a climb. This is me filming the high shot.

Me having a sit down while Laura watches. This is where i was filming a extremely low shot of just Laura's feet.

Laura trying to touch her toes. Laura in this is drawing out the hopscotch in the title sequence.

Laura ready to film the hopscotch sequence.

The car with my dad and Ronnie in it.

The road we are using.

Outtakes

These two are practise of the title sequence. We practised it twice so we could pick from them to see which one was the best to use in our thriller opening.

This is a practise of part of a car sequence that we were going to do. We pratcised to both see how to film it, how it looked and if we were going to use it. In the end we decided not to use this shot as it was too hard to do when we were doing the acutal filming.

This is a practise of filming the cars wheels when they come to a sudden hault. We deicided that this was to hard to film as you would have to film it quickly and would have to be close to the car if we wanted it to look good.

My dad messing around for a blopper if we do any.

Practise shot for the car driving past at a high angle. I stood on a ladder for this shot. we practised it as when it came to doing it for real i would need to know how fast/ slow i would have to pan the car round to get the car within the shot.

This is a point of view shot of the car coming towards us as if it was coming at the audience. We thought doing this shot would show not just the view of the audience but of the character making the viewers feel like they are in her place. We pratcised it as it had to match the high shot of the car driving past which is above this video.

This is a practise shot from behind laura as the car comes towards her. I thought this shot would be good as it shows that the character is there, it also shows what is happening so you can see the car coming towards her.

Laura messing around.

Thursday filming (6/12/12)

Filming

  • Leave school at 12 and get to location at 12:10, which is at Graby.
  • Find a suitable road and start to set up.
  • Get Laura to get ready, so clothes and make-up.
  • We film the first car shot which is a long shot of the car coming towards us and then a pan as the car goes past.
  • Next we film a two shot of Ronnie and now of my dad, Wayne, in the car talking.
  • Next is a shot of my dad looking up in the car mirror looking at the backseat but it is only a quick glance.
  • Next a two shot with Laura in the backseat.
  • Then a shot of my dad looking at the mirror again, which goes into another two shot but there is no Laura. Then it goes into flashbacks.
  • Then there is a shot from behind Laura of the car coming towards the camera and her.
  • Then a shot of Ronnie and Wayne gasping.
  • A pan of the car swerving her and then a shot of the wheels screeching to a holt.
  • A shot from the backseat of Ronnie and Wayne turning around, then a shot of the empty road, then a shot of them turning round then a close up of Ronnie's face looking scared then a shot of my dad turning round to look out the window then a jump cut to Laura's face in the window.
  •
We don't need a lighting plan as we are using nautral light, as we are filming outside. The props we need are the same from the first day in shooting but this time we will be also using a car.
We will also be doing the title squence again using chalk and the road but this time with lots of different shots.

Film developments

Film developments

We have decided that looking at the video we have so far, we need to make some improvements on the title sequence. We have decided to try out and practice more shots before we go out filming again to give us an idea to what we are looking for. These are some of the experiments that we are going to be working with....
This is one of the developments for our hopscotch title squence idea. Its a close up of Laura's feet.

This video is of Laura still on the hopscotch but at a different angle, as are the ones below.

This is a high angle shot.

This is a shot at a low level but infront of Laura so it gives the audience a view of her coming at you.

This is the second part of the one above.

This is from Laura's point of view.

This is a over the shoulder shot of Laura doing the hopscotch.

This is a long shot of Laura and the hopscotch.

Below is A video of our thriller opening.(Ronnie posted the following below).

This is where we are so far. We have put the clips together and changed the flashbacks to black and white, whilst changing the theme of the title sequence to "dream" theme, to try and make the writing stand out. The music is on there too, (this the one we have chosen previously and is posted on my blog).

The problems are that the music does not make sense to what is happening in the plot. This is because I did not take into a consideration the sync whilst i was making this on the garage band.
Also although we have tried to make Laura's voice to sync to her singing in the clip, we have not succeeded that.

Future improvements: We will try and find something more simple for our music choice
We will also record Laura singing again, whilst looking at the clip, so she know where about she sang certain bits.

Tomorrow we are going filming again, and we are going to do the title sequence again, trying out more variety of shots. The most important thing however is that we are filming our car sequence tomorrow too. I will post another video of an upgrade version and the full version of our thriller.

The reason why the music finishes at the end, is because i have copied the clips of Laura singing and put them in between the flash back itself as well as the voice of her singing, which was part of our experiment.

Music

Our backing track for our
thriller opening

This is our backing music that we made on garageband by Ronnie and the singing was also recorded which is Laura singing.
